Visiting the locals at Carnac island-a fun and relaxing day trip

Carnac Island is a stunning place to visit for a day trip from Fremantle. Only accessible by boat charters or private boats, it is just a short 20min ride from our pick up spot at East street jetty, Fremantle.

Meeting at 10am we gather for a briefing and then we are on our way. Coming closer to the island we see brown shapes lying on the white sandy beach. By close inspection, we see the Australian sea lions. We drop the anchor while everyone gets ready in wetsuit, mask and fins and squeals of excitement as the sea lions often come over to the boat to greet us.

The sea lions are friendly and curious creatures and the pups are always more than happy to come and pose for photos and blow bubble kisses while swimming around you. We can spend hours in the water with them some days, just enjoying their presence and ticking something off the Bucket List.

The day is relaxed and laid back and we stop for a swim break for lunch. Aussie BBQ with sausages, salad and plenty of tea and coffee on board to warm us up. We even have blankets on board for anyone who needs an extra bit of warmth.

The rest of the day is yours to swim, relax on deck or jump in the tender for a ride to visit the other parts of the island.
